Teledyne Brown Engineering Wins Defense Contracting Award

HUNTSVILLE, AL - November 14, 2001 - Teledyne Brown Engineering recently received a "Highly Successful" commendation and award recently from the Defense Contract Management Agency, Birmingham office.

Colonel Carl D. Owens, Commander of the DCMA office in Birmingham, presented the award to Teledyne Brown for its Small, Small Disadvantaged, and Woman-owned Small Business subcontracting program for 2001.

The award recognizes Teledyne Brown Engineering for exceeding its goals for including small business partners, particularly small disadvantaged businesses or woman-owned small businesses, in its contracts to perform defense programs. Typically, most government contracts specify that a percentage of purchases must be placed with small business partners.

Of the 56 companies that participated in the program, Teledyne Brown was one of five earning the highest awards in the program.
